Kona ‘Lava Dome’
This is a gnarly example of a classic 1990’s mountain bike handbuilt in the USA around 1992, and is fully equipped to handle anything from commuting to off roading.
This bike is highly specced, featuring a double butted cromoly steel frame with Manitou Spyder R suspension forks. To keep the weight down the handlebars are the light (but durable) Ritchey ForceLite made from 6061 alloy. It has a Shimano Deore LX 3×8 speed drivetrain, with Avid v-brakes. To finish it off the wheels are Mavic rims built around Shimano hubs to ensure smooth running in all conditions. There’s even a pannier rack for carrying your luggage on!
We have replaced the chain, cassette, gear and brake cables, brake pads, and headset, and the front and rear hubs have been serviced with new bearings fitted. We have also fitted knobbly Panaracer Fire XC off-road tyres in yellow, along with flame-coloured Odi grips to match.
The frame size is 19″ which is around a medium, and like all of our other refurbs this bike comes with a three month guarantee.
