We have received funding to deliver free training courses and learn to ride events to the public as part of Cycling UK’s Big Bike Revival. For some of these events we are taking a small deposit to secure a place – but this will be refunded when you attend. If you are not able to make this payment for whatever reason please drop into the shop and we will book you on there.
You can find descriptions of the different courses and activities below.
Learn to ride and Led ride
Are you keen to start commuting, but lacking confidence? Or do you want to meet other local cyclists? This funded event is a great way to test out two different cycle route options in to the city centre from south Birmingham with other people.
We’ll meet at Cotteridge park shed between 10am – 11.30am, where we’ll have some free teas and coffees. If you want to build your confidence cycling or to begin from scratch we will be providing support within the park. There is no expectation to join us on the led ride afterwards if you are not ready.
This will be an opportunity for us to do a free safety check on your bike before we leave. We’ll also have a few unusual and different bikes with us that you can have a go on in the safety of the park. these will include; mountain bikes, folding bikes, cargo bikes, bike polo bicycles and possibly some others too.
At 11:30am we’ll set of together into town following the Bristol road ‘blue route’. Once we get to the city centre we’ll take a short break where we can chat about the route and people can ask questions. We’ll then return to Cotteridge park by cycling along the National Cycle route 5. We’ll then finish up at Cotteridge park shed again. We’ll be finished no later than 2pm.
All abilities are welcome on this relaxed-paced group ride, you must have your own bike however and it must be in a safe condition. If you’re unsure please feel free to bring it to our shop beforehand.
